Great study guide, educational book, and is accompanied with a CD-Rom disk that has over 900 questions. I was in nursing leadership when I purchased this item and needed for a resources for nursing on my team that were required to test for a nursing certification. This book helped to pursued several nurses to test for the PCCN versus other certifications as this book really helped to thorough review material and break down questions.
If you like to read textbooks then you’ll love this book. I was looking for a simple format with key information needed for the PCCN exam. This book is VERY detailed, more than what you need to know and I just didn’t find it engaging. The textbook format is boring. Also, It doesn’t include many pictures for visual learners (and no color pics/charts/graphs) I would not recommend this book.
If you are going to take the PCCN this is a great resource for reviewing. I am still studying currently but am happy with my purchase. Full of useful knowledge. I am very visual so appreciate the images throughout the book, plus to learning exercises. Would definitely recommend.
I have used other test preparation books for nursing in the past from Elsivier. They usually have a great online question repertoire. I am rather disappointed with the online portion of this book, quite a few answers are wrong (which makes it harder to quickly prep as I now have to double check all the answers). Not super happy, but still a good format.
I found the online portion incredibly helpful. I took the practice tests and read the rational and test taking strategies to study. I also used the book to study the areas in which I was weak. I passed my PCCN!
I bought this particular version as it promised access to 900 practice questions. Perhaps those are available, but not without an access code, which was not sent with this purchase. I have requested a refund, and bought a downloadable review course through PESI.
