I've only recently discovered the air fryer and didn't really understand what it was exactly until a friend of mine bought one. Since then I've gone out and bought my own. Now I'm hooked and decided I needed some delicious recipes tailor made specifically for cooking with an air fryer. The Air Fryer Cookbook by Erika Connor first starts off with an explanation of how the air fryer works, how to use it, and why it's such an ingenious method of cooking. This answered a few questions for me so I could fully understand the benefits of my new device and really get started on cooking some delicious and nutritious food.Actually one of the very first things I cooked was a steak, and I was really doubtful that this method of "frying" would produce a mouth watering result. But it did, so I'm really impressed. The Air Fryer Cookbook has over 100 delicious recipes with photos, described in exquisite detail so you can cook them just right. From your classic breakfast fare, gourmet lamb chops, a cheese burger, deserts and even donuts, this book is packed full of awesome recipes. If you want to eat healthy, delicious meals and want to discover how to get the very best out of your air fryer, then get a copy of the Air Fryer Cookbook.

Although many of the recipes seem promising, the many errors make it impossible to use. References to ingredients which aren't on the ingredients list, mixing and matching standard U.S. measurements with weights and grams, and odd wording (from translation?), as well as, some temperature settings in Celsius and others in Fahrenheit, make it too dodgy to trust.

I was disappointed in this cookbook. I did indeed need just basic recipes, but this book was very poorly edited. There was a table of contents with page numbers listed, then NO PAGE NUMBERS in the whole book! They also spelled "dessert" wrong. Most likely many other words too.

I just recently purchased an air fryer because I tried some zesty potato wedges at a friends party that were made in an air fryer and they were awesome. Besides the health benefits from moving away from saturated fats the overall taste of foods prepared in the air fryer is superior to anything, I’ve tried before. The recipes I found in this book are opening a whole new world of cuisine for me and there’s just not enough time in the week to try them all so I’ll be referring back to this book for a very long time. The recipes and instructions are clear and the images make your mouth water. I recommend this to anyone that wants a better way to prepare foods with an air fryer.

This collection of recipes for air frying is exactly what my family and I were looking for . Delicious and easy to make recipes that we can all enjoy without adding all the extra fat and bad cholesterol to our diets. This book has everything from meats and fish to veggies and desserts! Accompanied by photos and a lot of details it is a must for those who either want to buy an air pressure cooker or already have one.

I love how the author took the time to explain all of the parts of the air fryer at the beginning of the book. So helpful. I also like the list at the beginning of the book for preparing basic foods in the air fryer. Excited to try some of these recipes.

This has some very good basic air fryer recipes. A lot of them can be found in other books. It does however give you a wonderful overview of what you can do with your air-fryer.

Such a thorough book on Air Frying! Being very new to the idea of air frying, I am happy I found this book. The author takes you from the beginning to help you understand everything about it. There are so many recopies in here that I MUST try out. Glad I found the book.

Architect of Prosperity: Sir John Cowperthwaite and the Making of Hong Kong, by Neil Monnery

Review

There are figures in history who deserve to be far better known and Sir John Cowperthwaite is one of those. Neil Monnery's account of the way he shaped Hong Kong into a dynamic and successful economy now far more prosperous than its colonial ruler, Britain, is all the more fascinating in the light of the current debate about what drives economic development. Policy makers today can learn a lot from the focus and the willingness to ignore the conventional wisdom of the time demonstrated by Cowperthwaite and his colleagues. - Diane Coyle, professor of economics at the University of Manchester and author of The Economics of Enough (2011) and GDP: A Brief but Affectionate History (2014)Not before time we now have a fascinating book on one of those who helped create Hong Kong's thriving economy. Cowperthwaite was a believer in free market economics well before this idea became popular again. Hong Kong should be grateful to him. - Lord Patten of Barnes, last governor of Hong Kong and author of East and West (1999) and First Confession: A Sort of Memoir (2017)To this day, people have little idea of Sir John's achievements, which deserve a wider audience. This book fills a glaring void. I hope it will have the wide readership that it most certainly deserves. - Yeung Wai-hong, Honorary Publisher of Next Magazine, Hong Kong I have just read a fascinating new book called Architect of Prosperity by Neil Monnery. It's about the role of Sir John Cowperthwaite, Financial Secretary of Hong Kong from 1961 to 1971 in setting the colony on the road to prosperity. It is an astonishing story… Its success derived from brilliant economic policymaking that involved reliance on market forces and minimising the role of the state... You might think that, given the economic record, Britain's economic establishment, including the serried ranks of mandarins and their political masters, might feel that they have a good deal to learn. They have. They should read Monnery's book.- Roger Bootle, The Daily TelegraphAnyone seeking to understand the true nature of inequality must read Neil Monnery's excellent book. In Hong Kong Sir John Cowperthwaite created a society of great wealth inequality but of great freedom and opportunity. Refugees fled to Hong Kong from the imposed equality of the People's Republic of China in pursuit of the greater equality of opportunity in the British Colony. This book raises fundamental questions about the nature of the equality we seek to pursue.- Russell Napier - market historian and author of Anatomy of the Bear (2016)Hong Kong went from being a barren rock with no resources to becoming a dynamic economy with living standards higher than many European countries. A key role in this remarkable story was played by Sir John Cowperthwaite as Financial Secretary. He believed that expenditure should be determined by revenues, not the other way round, that private enterprise should decide where investment should be allocated, tax rates should be low to attract capital and create surplus profits to be re-invested to create compounding growth. He was against deficits because he viewed the taxpayer of tomorrow just as worthy as the taxpayer of today. The results were spectacular and made Hong Kong into the economic miracle it is today. This book charts his wonderful, inspiring and remarkable story and his philosophy is brilliantly expressed. The wonder is that other Governments in Europe don't follow this example.- Lord Lamont of Lerwick, former Chancellor of the Exchequer, author of In Office (1999)

Purchased this book based upon The Economist's recommendation. It is well written and comprehensively covers Sir John Cowperthwaite's time in Hong Kong. Though I knew some of the colony's history, it was interesting to read about the various fiscal, monetary, and other crises that challenged and ultimately strengthened the colony. The author frequently teased comparisons of how HK handled these matters vs. how they were handled in Britain, Singapore, and other colonies. The book could have done with more of this analysis and perhaps less quoting of Sir John, the latter of which became repetitive and often covered the same concepts. I also found the ending to be a disappointing and almost slapdash close to an otherwise good book.

A great story of how Hong Kong became great!

This book is way overdue. At long last we have a lengthy, thoughtful and thorough account of the life and policies of Sir John Cowperthwaite. Neil Monnery is to be heartily congratulated on filling this void with an intelligent, clear, nuanced and well written book mercifully free of libertarian propaganda or leftist ranting, though Mr. Monnery understandably admires and likes his subject. This book doesn't merely regurgitate the familiar anecdotes and the handful of statistics usually trotted out to illustrate Hong Kong's astounding success. It is a substantive discussion of the real policy issues faced by Cowperthwaite and the Hong Kong government beginning with postwar reconstruction until his retirement in the seventies. If you know Hong Kong and have an economist's perspective, this book is for you. I read it avidly from cover to cover. The observations and self deprecating humour of Cowperthwaite leaven the text. This book will become one of the authoritative books on this period of Hong Kong economic history.

This is a good book!

This book should be on the desk of every politician and macro-economist. As clear an explanation of how to run an economy for growth and why growth will draw people out of poverty, as you will find. Undoubtedly Hong Kong was in the right place at the right time, but it weathered server set backs and came out on top because of the prudence of Sir John Cowperthwaite. Get a copy. Read the first half fast and linger over the second half. I read "Architect of Prosperity" as a follow up to "The History of Hong Kong". The latter is rather dry. So it was a joy to delve into Monnery's clear text, Cowperthwaite's sense of humor and Hong Kong's incredible rise from the ruins of Japanese occupation to one of the most prosperous states on earth.

From the Inside Flap

“If Congress and the Administration really wanted to learn how to eliminate the deficit, limit government, and protect liberty they would stop wasting taxpayers’ money on ‘debt commissions’ and instead read Rollback.”—The Honorable Ron Paul, Member of Congress“In Rollback,, Tom Woods provides a provocative assessment of President Obama’s first two years of economic policy–making, challenging virtually every aspect of the administration’s narrative. While some readers may not be persuaded, all will find Woods’ analysis both interesting and worthy of serious debate.”—Dr. Jeffrey Miron, Economist, Harvard University, and Senior Fellow at the Cato Institute“Tom Woods takes an honest (and methodically cited) look at the record of big government: skyrocketing health–care costs, an out-of-control military, moral hazard in the markets, and a collapsing dollar. Even better, he offers clever, turn–key solutions that could restore the United States to being the breeding ground of wealth and ingenuity that our immigrant ancestors sought and cherished. Rollback debunks the popular rhetoric of politicians, the media, and academia. Without a hint of partisanship—taking on Republicans and Democrats alike—Woods has shown how misguided policies have set us up to be the first generation in memory to pass along lower standards of health, wealth, and opportunity to our children. If you are confused about how our once-mighty country has fallen so far, so fast, then Rollback is a good place to find your answer.”—Peter Schiff, president of Euro Pacific Capital and host of The Peter Schiff Show“In Rollback, economic historian Tom Woods proves that the true culprit for our financial woes is a government that thinks it can right any wrong, regulate any activity, and tax any event; and a public that continues to accept the assault on its natural liberties in the name of safety. Woods demonstrates with brutal clarity the critical and immediate need to reject the myth that the government can protect us and to repeal the institutions it has created to do so.”—Judge Andrew P. Napolitano, Senior Judicial Analyst, FOX News

Anyone leaning toward a libertarian point of view should enjoy this book. If, however, you prefer that we continue down the path of socialism that Obama seems to be taking us, you probably won't like what this book offers. After reading this book one has to ask the important question "Is it too late to roll back the size of government?" The book clearly points out the dangers of an ever-expanding federal government. I'll quote for you one passage from the book (page 128) which I believe reveals the author's point of view:"...it is difficult to devise a welfare program that does not produce net harm. Given Man's inclination to acquire wealth with the least possible exertion, programs like these threaten to drag additional people into a cycle of dependency that mankind's inclination to sloth will only reinforce over time. ... Once people realize the government is giving out a benefit for free, more and more people will place themselves in the condition that entitles them to the benefit, thereby making the program ever more expensive, society poorer, and the system more fragile, as a narrower and narrower base of productive individuals is forced to support an ever-growing population demanding benefits."

Thomas E. Woods, Jr., author of The Politically Incorrect Guide to American History,Nullification: How to Resist Federal Tyranny in the 21st Century, and other historical/political books gives us an up-to-date review of current ecnonomic conditions, what got us here, and a very, very short chapter on solutions.Woods writes from the background of an historian who works for the Ludwig Von Mises Institute, a free market think-tank. I found his book on nullification, the idea that states can nullify unconstitutional laws since they are the 4th branch of government, to be his best work to this point. Woods takes the libertarian ideal as his standard. He shows equal disdain for Republican and Democrat administrations since they all have done basically the same thing: wage unwinnable wars, spend money, and decrease the freedom of the average US citizen. Unfortunately, I can find no error in this assessment.Chapter 1 is 16 pages discussing "Is it already too late?" This chapter is succinct and full of facts and figures that show the magnitude of our problems. This last week, Standard and Poor's dropped the rating of the US debt, showing that Woods is right on target. We all know that we are out of money and running up huge deficits. The question is, can we stop it? Woods suggests that we can't. Given that the last few months have seen partisan political battles over cutting a paltry few billion when our debt increases 100 billion every month, I don't see how anyone can argue that we really have a chance. The massive tea party effort that actually gave control to the Republicans of the House of Representatives has resulted in absolutely nothing of note. Even though the House controls completely the purse-strings, no one will actually draw them tight. Even the Ryan plan, to "cut" a trillion dollars is a gigantic lie. What they mean by "cut" is actually not a cut at all, but means that the government will grow a trillion dollars slower over the next ten years, though the deficit will continue to grow. What kind of a cut is that? The Ryan plan predicts a balanced budget by 2030 - 20 years from now. Anyway, read chapter one for more facts and figures if you have any doubts.Chapter 2 is also short and covers some disastrous policies of the Obama administration starting with Obama-care, the takeover of 1/6 of the US economy. Obama is just the name that fills in the blank in the statement, "__________ was the leader of the US during the most recent disastrous economic policies." The first sentence of the chapter reads, "The looming fiscal crisis didn't originate with Barack Obama, but he sure hasn't helped." The rest of the chapter goes over bail-outs, housing policy, and how Obama has destroyed the rule of law doing things like favoring unions over other creditors. Chapter 3 shows how the government intervention in the economy both caused the current problems and is just making them worse.Chapter 4 is a short polemic on the private bank that oversees our economy for some reason - the Federal Reserve. Chapter 5 takes on the military-industrial complex and quotes the deceased Osama Bin Laden who notes that with our unguarded borders he could send in terrorist attacks at any time but why should he when "We are continuing in the same policy to make America bleed profusely to the point of bankruptcy"? How much have we spent on the war with terrorism in the last decade?Chapter 6 is a long chapter that is clearly the author's favorite subject: "The Myth of "Good Government"". Woods cites failure after failure in some detail. I actually found that a few of these examples were overdrawn. This weakness is why I gave the book 4 stars - along with the rather plain prose during several of the sections.Chapter 7, the last, is a short note of some efforts to fix the economic crisis, while noting that nothing will really be done that works anyway. Definitely a downer to read.Overall a decent collection of data and opinions that comes to the conclusion that we all know the problem but nothing will be fixed until a crisis of unimaginable proportions forces a massive re-structuring. This book is the economic equivalent of Patrick Buchan's demographic doomsday book The Death of the West: How Dying Populations and Immigrant Invasions Imperil Our Country and Civilization about how the current trends mean that there isn't a prayer that America will continue to exist as it is since the groups that are growing (Muslim, Hispanic, etc.) simply do not believe in the American concepts of freedom, limited government, and self-reliance. Like that book, this is grim reading. It is customary at this point of a review of a book like this to say something rousing and hopeful. Sorry. 4 stars.

This book is exceptionally well written. It makes sense of the chaos we now see in or government. It gives the reader some proactive steps he or she may take now to prepare for the inevitable coming of financial collapse in America. The insight I got from reading this book is priceless.

This is a must read for anyone concerned about the current political and economic climate. It provides great insight into how the government operates and how the people and the states should react to the central government over reaching its authority.Tom Woods is an inspiration to anyone who believes in freedom, individual liberty and the factual original intent of the United States Constitution. He makes you aware of how the people have been misled by politicians and their mainstream economics partners and the corruption of corporate America through massive government intervention.

The Eighth StepCenturies from now, you and I may be fortunate enough to be remembered by our direct descendants. But if any freedom of thought still exists, Thomas E. Woods, Jr. will be cited wistfully by historians as one who tried to jar us from our fatal complacency and apathy, by showing that every government "benefit" (beyond the enumerated powers) is a cumulative stride down the final corridor of Alexander Tyler's famous eight-step progression-- a deluded rush into the bondage of constantly-increasing government control of exponentially-expanding spheres of daily life.--Dr. S.L. A collection of profiles of the women that flew for the ATA (Air Transport Auxiliary) during WW2. This an OK primer for those interested in this subject but if you want more detail and remembrances that have more nuance I would recommend getting the books written by the women pilots themselves like "Contact! Britain!" by Nancy Miller Livingston Stratford, "Spreading My Wings" by Diana Barnato Walker, "Intrepid Woman" by Betty Lussier or "The Sky And I" by Veronica Volkersz.
