It is tale of b list heroes looking to make a difference. It's got a healthy dose of humor and action. It is set in the same universe as the house of dolls series and even has some cameos from familiar characters. It was a great read.
I rarely leave anything but 5's across the board for HC,as I really love his work. But this one took me a while to get into it. I am glad I did stick with it. I am really looking forward to the next one.
Awsome...Period. I am currently mobilized to the Middle East, and found this book on happenchance. How lucky was I. I have now read 14 of Harmon Coopers books, and they never disappoint. Do yourself a favor...read this book!
We Could Be Hero's is a quirky, funny superhero story with a bit of GameLit mixed in for adults who like a little spice and a lot of action. This book has the beginnings of a harem in it, so if that isn't your thing, you may want to pass. If you enjoy the author's other books though, you will love this one! It ties in with another of his series, but it can also be enjoyed independently.Contains graphic sex scenes and harem elements. Not for kids.I received a complimentary advance copy of this book. This is my honest and voluntary review.
I enjoyed how this book started to fill in more of the world and how the non exemplars are treated. I received a advanced readers copy to this book for a honest review. Overall the characters and plot was good. I actually prefer this story over the HOD main books. These characters are more likeable and interesting with more drive to do good to me. The author kept me engaged with these characters and the advancement of the story was good. Overall I recommend this book to those that enjoy superhero books.
A brand new series from the maestro of prolific writing, but much underrated, Harmon Cooper, who always has a way with words, especially when it comes to the female form, "a curvaceous woman with enough breastery to go around." That made my husband and I laugh out loud.The book begins with non-exemplar Sam's crime catching up with him. I won't tell you what he was caught doing, but I'll just remind you that this book is based in the same world as 'House of Dolls' and that should be a hint enough. And so begins our tale...I really enjoyed this 'first' and can't wait for the rest of the series to be released. I have no hesitation in recommending this to any new reader who wants to try a wee bit of this author. All the characters are great, but I love Dinah, Lance, and the ever so cool, Helena. Zoe is the most 'human' character as she goes through so many emotions: love; jealousy; sadness; heartbreak; betrayal; wanting to look like something other than she is. She is such an honest person - too honest, sometimes, as she doesn't have an off switch for her mouth - and so damn gallus!A well-written and well-told story, funny, with action a-plenty, so entertaining, and - of course - there are nods to Cooper's other excellent series.I chose to receive an early ecopy of this book, which I voluntarily read and honestly reviewed. All opinions are my own.
This book is built on a fascinating premise about 3 people who didn’t have an Exemplar level power, and one who needed a smack in the face to find out he could smell everything. The characters are interesting, and the dynamics between them look very promising. However, the way the story is written is very disjointed, and it takes way too long to settle down.
If you're a fan of HC's writing then grabbing this one should be a no brianer. Lots of great action scenes and characters with enough backstory to make you interested in them and drag you deeper into the book. This story takes place within the same universe that House of Dolls does and has references within that would otherwise be overlooked if you haven't already read it. So, if you haven't read HoD first you'd be missing out on an awesome series as well as insight into this universe. Great read, looking forward to the next one!
